XXI Century Skills
The Lifelong Learning Platform emphasises the importance of a competence based approach to education that puts the delivery of tranversal competences and “life skills” as central. With our members, we are particularly working on social, civic and intercultural competences, on fostering entrepreneurial mindsets (well beyond business creation), and on digitial skills and media literacy. The acquisition of such skills, of values and attitudes, requires the use of more participatory learning methods and new modes of assessment.
Learning innovation is also about the use of new technologies for educational purposes. The Platform and its members are thriving to make sure the digital revolution does not deepen the gap between learners but instead increases participation in society in its educational, social, civic and economic dimensions. It also represents an opportunity to support pedagogic innovation.
