Youth Labour Market Index: the multifaceted situation of young persons on the labour market

On 29 April, EUCIS-LLL director Audrey Frith participated in an expert workshop to exchange on the KOF Youth Labour Market Index. This tool can be very useful to compare the situation of youth unemployment in different countries and in time. This research shows that it is crucial to take more into account quality indicators when we talk about “youth unemployment”. Indeed, the youth unemployment rate alone cannot provide a comprehensive account of the situation of young persons on the labour market, as it does not tell us anything about working conditions such as involuntary part-time work or how well the skills of young workers meet with demand on the labour market. The index covers four dimensions and twelve indicators; users can play with the data via an online user-friendly tool.
