Adult education is the key for more knowledge, skills, competences and participation in Europe. It has the potential to increase competitiveness and employability but also democracy, inclusion, health and well-being. The results of the OECD Survey of Adult Skills (PIAAC) clearly demonstrate that Europe needs to invest in adult education – it is a loud wake-up call to Europe and the member states to start immediate action.
Based on facts and figures, policies and good practice examples, this policy debate discussed: What does PIAAC mean for adult education? How can we accomplish a “Learning Europe”? How to encourage close cooperation between governmental and civil society organisations in order to raise awareness and develop appropriate measures?
MEP Katarína Neveďalová and MEP Kent Johansson together with the EAEA invited people to share on those key challenges.
