The Lifelong Learning Platform is set to join the main body for civil society organisations! of the United Nations system. The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) is at the heart of the United Nations system to advance the three dimensions of sustainable development – economic, social and environmental. It is the central platform for fostering debate and innovative thinking, forging consensus on ways forward, and coordinating efforts to achieve internationally agreed goals. It is also responsible for the follow-up to major UN conferences and summits. The UN Charter established ECOSOC in 1945 as one of the six main organs of the United Nations.
Following up on LLLP’s application for consultative status in policy processes regarding education and training, the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations has recommended the Lifelong Learning Platform! See here the press release.
What does this entail? LLLP will now join the main UN body and will play an even bigger role in the definition of international priorities for education and training. Stay tuned for more, for the real work begins now!
