The first Citizens’ Summit was held this 24 and 25 June at BOZAR, in Brussels. Citizens and representatives from Civil Society voiced their concerns towards austerity measures and the lack of vision of the EU today. The Summit emphasised the importance of core values (equity, solidarity, human rights) of the EU to move forward. It encouraged EU leaders to take the crisis as an opportunity to reshape the union: “business as usual is not an option”.
